Made from stainless steel studded with coarse diamonds, the Nakiyo 12" Diamond Sharpening Rod is an aggressive, quick-acting sharpener that allows you to control the sharpening angle but doesn't require patience and prep time. It is not a honing steel, which straightens rolled edges but doesn't sharpen them.

Because of its quick action and coarse finish, our diamond sharpening rod is best suited for repairing badly blunted edges and for maintaining heavily used knives in commercial kitchens. For regular home use, consider using a ceramic sharpening rod, which is gentler and leaves a finer finish.
